Lyin' Ryan is at it again. Right-wing nut-job  republican VP candidate Paul Ryan LIES about President Obama and our former President Jimmy Carter in a speech to people in North Carolina. Ryan FALSELY claimed that: “In 1980 under Jimmy Carter, 330,000 businesses filed for bankruptcy. Last year, under President Obama’s failed leadership, 1.4 million businesses filed for bankruptcy.” IN FACT, in 1980 under President Jimmy Carter, 43,694 business bankruptcies were filed, and last year under President Obama, 47,806 business bankruptcies were filed. Lyin' Ryan was off by A FACTOR OF 29 regarding the number of business bankruptcies filed under Obama last year and off by a factor of 7.5 regarding the number of business bankruptcies filed under President Carter in 1980. FURTHERMORE, what Lyin' Ryan left out was business bankruptcies hit a record of 71,549 in 1991, when republican George H.W. Bush was President, followed in a close second in 1985, under republican President Ronald Reagan, when 71,277 business bankruptcies were filed.
